Installing Demo
Submitted by jenolan on Thu, 08/23/2007 - 02:56.
I have had a hunt around for the key to use for the trial of RC .. if I leave the fields blank it will not install if I use demo/demo it does not like that either .. where is the demo key hidden?
Thanks!
Larry

Got it downunder
Thanks .. it made it!
Might I suggest that in the purchase email or somewhere you add a note saying key will be mailed manually after verification.
Thanks kimosabe
Check your email
Larry,
We're on a manual process here. I sent the email off about an hour ago and hopefully you have it in hand now. Let me know if there is a problem.
As for branding the executable, we've talked about that here and in some other places before. I actually do something similar when I'm making the custom dlls in genreg.exe with the --genlib option. The generated DLL is branded with the information required to validate your application keys. I get nervous about modifying somebody else's software though

Commercial Key?
Just bought the full version but I did not get a full key :)
Sorry to be a grinch,

Success
Yup that worked having a look now.
Back in the dark ages I used a similar thing mainly for virus protection that had a 'brand' in the exe when the program was built you would then run the brander it would analyse the file and modify the 'magic' string to have the brand. The appl could then call a routine and have the file verified. If someone modified the code in any way it would return a compromised return and you would abort.
I know with all the dll's and stuff this becomes more difficult but it was a great idea for inbuilt software validation against tampering.
Just an idea for you :) always like passing on work!!
Product Updated
Larry,
Thanks for pointing that out. I've updated the product listing to include the demo key: Lazarus Registration Component. Drop a note back here if that doesn't work out for you.
